Alan William Simon

Alan Simon was born in Flushing and grew up there for 7 years; eventually moving to Farmingdale when he was 11 years old when he met his best friend, Ronnie Fiano—they remained friends until this day. He met his wife, Margaret, at Weldon E Howitt H.S. She fell for him the first time she saw him, but it took 9 years to get him to the altar! They just celebrated their 58 wedding anniversary on May 14th.

Alan lost his dad, William, in WWII when he was just 4 years old and always missed not having him around as he grew up. He himself joined the Marines at age 22; he served for over 3 years, 18 months of that time in Vietnam. He and Margaret married when he returned and settled in Farmingdale and lived there for 32 years. He worked as a draftsman for a few years and then went on the NCPD and retired in January 2002 as a sergeant t after 30 years.

In 2002 he and Margaret moved to a new home in Moriches where there were plenty of open roads for him and his new retirement gift, a 2001 Porsche he called “Baby”. So many memories were made in that car, traveling to Florida and very often to Vermont where his sister, Dianne and her husband lived. It was a wonderful Porsche life.

Alan leaves behind a large and supportive family of 6, Dianne, Gary, Chris, Billy, Lori and Vicki—he was their big brother

His biggest joy in our lives was our daughter, Stephanie, and her 3 boys—Ben, Kyle and Brett. How he loved them and they, him. His only regret was that he got too old to do all the things he still wanted to do with them and that was sad, but the time was long that they had him

We all love you so much Alan/Si, dad, grandpa, brother, favorite brother-in-law, very entertaining uncle, friend and will miss you terribly
