Alan W. Wolf passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025 at the age of 76, In Stonybrook University Hospital. Born on December 1, 1948 in Rockville Centre, NY to Audry and August Wolf. He was a devoted husband, brother and uncle.
Alan grew up in Uniondale, NY. and graduated from Uniondale H.S. Shortly thereafter he enlisted in The United States Air Force where he became a trained canine police officer, from 1968 through 1974. During his service in Guam, he developed a passion for scuba diving and law enforcement. After departure from military service, he pursued his college degree and joined his father as a lifetime member of the Uniondale Fire Department, where he achieved his rank of Captain.
He met the love of his life, Virginia, during a softball game hosted by a local Uniondale bar, P. J. Spiffy's. He also proposed to her in that bar, where she happily accepted. They were married on September 14, 1980.
His family and friends will remember Al for his generosity and his huge heart. He loved helping others so much, that he became a member of the New York City Police Department in 1982, while still serving as a Uniondale firefighter.
Besides his devotion to his family and friends Al loved NY Yankee baseball, bowling, playing computer games, and just hanging out watching his favorite TV shows.
Alan was extremely generous to various charities and organizations. He especially loved dogs and animals, children, and our veterans. He was a monthly donor to St. Judes Children's Hospital, and Tunnel to Towers, and local animal shelters and animal hospitals.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, sister Carol, brother-in- law Robert, (Jeanne), sister- in- law, Clare, (Bruce) and several loving nieces and nephews. Alan is preceded in death by his parents, August and Audry, and Virginia's parents, Clare and James.
