Angela Santiago

d. Oct 12, 2026

Yaphank, New York

It is with a broken heart and tears in our eyes we announce the passing of Angela Santiago on October 12, 2026.

Born in Puerto Rico on August 17th 1932 Angela grew up in a small town called Penuelas raised by her parents Basilisa and Sixto Hernandez. Angela is one of seven, a sister to Luis Enrique, Lydia, Felix Antonio, Flor Maria, Luis Manuel, and Robert. At a young age she met the love of her life Gabriel Santiago who she later married and shared three children, Cesar, Luis Anibal and Milagros. The lovely couple relocated to New York City where they made a home for many years in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Angela just starting out worked in a factory making stuffed animals, and later as a housekeeper in a local hospital for many years where she made lifelong friends. She retired in her late 50’s to care for her parents.

Aside from being an amazing wife and mother Angela had a passion for cooking. She was great in the kitchen and loved to cook for her family and friends. If you were going to Angela's house you could always count on a warm home cooked meal. When Angela’s grandkids went to visit she made sure they always left with a full belly and a dollar in their pocket. Angela also enjoyed going to the casino with her husband to play slots, her limit was always $100. On the funnier side she loved her cat figurines, had them all over her apartment but never wanted to own an actual cat. Instead Angela owned birds whom she spoke to every morning. In 2021 she moved with her daughter and son-in-law; Millie and Danny, accompanied by her son Luis Anibal to Long Island where she remained for the rest of her days.

Angela was a pillar of strength and a wonderful gentle soul. She was the rock of our family and will forever be remembered by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and siblings. Her legacy of love, dedication and faith will continue to live on in all of the hearts who knew her.

May she rest in eternal peace.
