Angelo Sparacia, age 84, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, at home in Bohemia, NY. Born in Brooklyn, NY, on April 10, 1940, Angelo was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran, educator, and coach, whose legacy will be treasured by all who knew him. Just recently, he and his dear wife, Jean, celebrated 60 years of marriage, sharing a life rich in love, family, and dedication.
Angelo is survived by his wife, Jean, and his children, Andrew (Deborah), Loretta (Stephen), and Anthony (Tracy). He also held in his heart, cherished memories of his son, Stephen, who preceded him in death. Angelo’s love for Stephen was infinite. Angelo often reminisced about the special moments shared with Stephen, memories he treasured deeply.
Angelo’s pride and joy were his nine grandchildren: Kyle (Amanda), Zachary (Kelsey), Reese, Bailey, Brandon, Jesse, Makenzie, Sawyer, and Donovan. His grandchildren were his world, and he spent countless hours on the football field as a coach and on baseball and soccer fields as their biggest cheerleader. The special bond he shared with each of them will be remembered fondly.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Angelo served his country with honor before dedicating himself to the New York City Fire Department, where he protected his community for many years. After his time as a firefighter, he became a junior high and high school math teacher, inspiring generations of students with his commitment to education. Angelo also poured his heart into coaching football, guiding both high school and Little League teams. He was a mentor both on and off the field, instilling values of perseverance, teamwork, and integrity.
