Anita Porcelli-Carol, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved aunt, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at the age of 95. Born in 1929 to Grace (Florio) and Anthony Iacovone in Hell’s Kitchen, New York, Anita was the second of four siblings—her older sister Ann, and two younger brothers, Jack and Joe.
An energetic and hardworking woman, Anita worked as a bookkeeper in Manhattan, where she met her first love, Pat Porcelli, at a dance in Lower Manhattan. She often recounted how Pat walked up to her, asked her name, and when she answered "Anita Iacovone" he said, “We’re going to change that." True to his word, the two were married in 1951. Together, they moved to Farmingdale and raised their three children: Paul, Mark, and Lisa. Later, they made their home in Dix Hills.
Anita was the heart and soul of her home—an exceptional homemaker, a talented cook, and an enthusiastic entertainer. Her beautifully decorated home was often a gathering place for friends and family. In 1984, Anita’s world was shaken when Pat passed away suddenly, but she found the strength to move forward.
A few years later, fate brought her together with Louis Carol at a widows and widowers’ dance. Their connection was immediate, and they were married in 1991. With Louis, Anita shared many years of happiness, fun, and deep companionship. They grew old together, finding joy in each other’s company and in the life they built.
Anita was fortunate to have experienced the love of two wonderful men over the course of her life, each marriage lasting over three decades. She is survived by her son Paul, daughter Lisa, and her beloved grandchildren: Sloane, Chase, Lorenzo, and Sofia. Anita was predeceased by both of her husbands and her precious son, Mark.
Anita’s energy, zest for life, and love of socializing kept her vibrant and young at heart. She had a remarkable ability to connect with others, and her positive attitude and fun-loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
