Anita Wolf, 80, of Lake Grove, New York, passed away on July 2, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Anita was born on March 1, 1946, in Jamaica, New York, to the late Madeline G. San Fanandre and Joseph P. Hirsch Jr. Anita Hirsch was a fighter from the very beginning. Born at just 22 weeks, she faced extraordinary odds in her first days of life and carried that same strength, determination, and resilience throughout her life.
Known for being practical, direct, and generous, Anita cared deeply for the people she loved. She was never one to be anything but honest, and beneath her blunt and straightforward nature was a fiercely loyal woman who always looked out for her family and friends.
Anita married her beloved husband (Herbert) Thomas Wolf on March 18, 1978. Anita had many interests that brought her joy. A devoted wife for 48 years, mother and grandmother, she also had a passion for the New York Rangers, genealogy, birds, puzzles, and crosswords. Anita valued knowing where her family came from and took great interest in the stories, people, and generations that helped shape the family she loved so much.
Anita will be remembered for her resilience, her devotion to her family, and the love she gave so freely. When saying goodbye to those she loved, she often said, “Be good, I love you, Happy Dreams.” Those words will remain a lasting reminder of her care, warmth, and love.
Anita is preceded in death by her parents, brother Joseph P. Hirsch III, nephew Chad Wolf and niece Jacqueline Hirsch. She is survived by her husband Thomas, daughter Jennifer (David), son Thomas (Robbie), her cherished grandchildren Madeline, Evelyn and Sadie, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice in Anita’s memory.
