Anne R. Flanagan

d. Jul 14, 2026

Anne R. Flanagan passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on July 14, 2026.

Born on April 11, 1929 in Manhattan, Anne was the beloved daughter of Annie and Patrick Robinson from Dublin Ireland. She was raised with 2 sisters, the late Sylvia Tobin (David) and Patricia Baker (Bill). She loved her sisters and she thoroughly enjoyed life in Manhattan. She was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School and an employee of AT&T.

Growing up, her family enjoyed vacationing at Lake Ronkonkoma. It was there that she met her future husband and “boy next door” Thomas Flanagan. They were blessed to be married for 55 years. There they raised their 4 children Tom (Patty), Maureen (Ken), Michael and Kevin (Julie). They were surrounded by many friends who were like family as well as their extended family including their parents and In-laws, sisters and many nieces and nephews (The Tobins, Bakers, Catletts and Flanagans). Wonderful memories were created around family BBQs, days at the lake, holidays, fireworks displays and camping trips! Later on, Montauk became a favorite destination, especially Hither Hills.

Anne also worked for many years at St. Charles Hospital as a lab technician, where she eventually retired.

In her later years, she and Tom spent most of their time in Boynton Beach Florida, living in the Colonial Club. There they stayed active and social and Anne never strayed too far from her sister Pat. Together, they enjoyed playing Mahjong and Rummikub with their many friends.

Anne eventually moved to Connecticut to be near her daughter, but missed her independence and longed for her old life in Florida. She did not lose her competitive spirit, however, or her ability to play Rummikub, often winning games at 97!

She cherished her 8 grandchildren: Kenneth Ryan (Katie) and Aidan…Brendan (Monica), Liam (Erie) and Alana…Mae, Lucy and Lily. She was also thrilled to become a great grandmother to Ellie and Olivia and was looking forward to meeting “baby boy” Sneider on the way.

She will be remembered for her quick mind, her independent spirit, her warmth and sense of humor and her generous nature. She always made time to talk as well as to listen. To her, family was everything. She savored the many special relationships she had with her children’s spouses, her nieces and nephews and their families as well as all of her grandchildren.

She was greatly loved and will be truly missed.
