Anne-Regina Guidi

d. May 18, 2026

Anne-Regina Guidi, passed away on May 18, 2026, at her home in Bayport, New York, peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 61 years old. Annie was born on July 26, 1964, in Queens, New York, to the late Frank and Barbara Cawlo, and her sister Barbara, and lived in Bayside.

By the age of four, Annie was singing at family gatherings, standing on the table as her father beamed and asked her to perform for everyone. She then found great joy and loved to sing at church as her voice carried like an angel. Early on Anne became a devote catholic, in most part lead by her up bringing. She stayed true to God and her faith till the end. While attending St. Agnes Academic High School for Girls in College Point, New York, Annie became a member of the children's chorus at the Metropolitan Opera under the direction of Beverly Sills, performing for more than three years in productions including La Bohème, La Traviata, and Street Scene. During her time at the Met, she also performed on and off Broadway, serving as the understudy for Andrea McArdle in the original cast of "Annie" and then joining the touring production. In one of the most legendary stories of her career, she stepped into the role of the Artful Dodger in a production of Oliver with only twenty-four hours to learn every line and every piece of choreography, saving a show that was about to close before it ever opened. The production was an amazing success, and Annie earned even greater respect from her peers. She remained an active member of SAG/AFTRA for over fifty years, performing in numerous shows and commercials throughout her career. Annie eventually stepped away from the theater to start a family.

Her most crowning achievement was giving birth to her beautiful daughter, Danielle and her incredible son, Douglas. Anyone that knew Anne knew beyond the shadow of a doubt, she cherished Danielle, and Douglas and the three formed an amazing bond, that continued to grow till her last days. To say she was so proud of her children was a massive understatement. When speaking about them she would gleam from ear to ear. The arrival of her three grandchildren, Sophie, Francis, and Nina, sent Annie over the moon. Whether on FaceTime, in a photo, a video, or in person, those Grandchildren made her face light up like nothing else could. She loved being a grandma, and completely embraced the title. Let's not forget the parade of animals that found their way through the house on Middle Road over the years. Every stray, every animal in need of rescue, found a loving home with Annie. She was known to travel with cans of cat and dog food tucked under the seat of her truck, just in case she came across a hungry stray.

After starting her family, Anne re-entered the music scene, this time writing and producing her own music and lyrics, and partnering with John Gatto, to build a very lengthy catalog, of hits. Her release of "Best Kept Secret" found great success overseas especially in Japan where it was put on a continuous rotation on their pop radio channels. Anne was blessed to work with some real writing icons in music including Randy Goodrum, collaborating on multiple songs. As her music and new momentum was picking up, here in the states, Anne was Diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. In the time that followed there were multiple surgeries, procedures, hospital stays and intense Chemotherapy, each one threatening her life at every turn. This battle continued for Anne for over 12 years. She fought like a warrior, with the heart of a Grizzly Bear. With the love of her life Christopher, and her children always by her side, and the support and love of her amazing family and friends, Anne never gave up, always stayed positive, with that incredible smile, while in her pain raised everyone up around her. Anne inspired and touched the lives of so many people with her courage, and will to live. She was driven by a strong faith and Love of family and friends. She welcomed everyone, and loved everyone, and everyone she came in contact with loved her...she never said good bye to anyone without saying I love you, with a smile. Anne-Regina will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Catholic Charities, a cause close to Anne's heart, so her legacy of kindness may continue. https://catholiccharities.cc/
