Arthur Carbone born February 17, 1927 passed away peacefully at his home in Nesconset, when the angels came to take him to meet his late wife June in the morning of June 13, 2025.
Arthur was born in Bellevue Hospital, New York City to Ida Sterlini and raised by Bertha Delcart until he was 5 yrs old. Then lived with Paul and Jen Seacrest until he was 16 yrs of age. He then lived on his own in a boarding house in Centereach, NY where he was paid $1.50 per week with breakfast included.
At 22, he met his wife June at the roller-skating rink in Lake Ronkonkoma. They were married on Oct. 18, 1949, for 61 yrs.
He built his home across the street from June’s grandfather John Wanamaker who helped with the construction along with Roy Wanamaker and Johnny Boy Wanamaker who was in High School at the time, and many other family members.
Arthur and June raised four children and was a devoted husband and father who loved his family and had a quick wit.
At the time of building his home he worked in Smithtown block yard running all the machinery. He then joined the operating engineer union local 138A, which he continued at attend union meetings until he was 96 yrs old. He was a master mechanic, welder and heavy equipment operator. He would work side jobs out of his garage fixing all kinds of equipment.
Upon his retirement he started building birdhouses which gave him the nickname birdhouse Artie. His birdhouses were featured in many craft fairs on Long Island to Connecticut.
Everyone who knew him with his sparkling blue eyes when he smiled and always willing lend a helping hand. He was 98 ½ at the time of his death. He will always amaze us all on a life well lived and will be truly missed by all.
He is preceded by his wife June Carbone and Mother Ida Sterlini, survived by his son Arthur Carbone and wife LaRhonda, Lorraine Carbone-Craig, Linda Carbone and husband Richard Maehr and Paul Carbone. Grandchildren Arthur Carbone, Louis Camassa and wife Lisa, Jessica Craig and George Craig IV. Great Grandchildren Corbin & Kyle, Mia June and Camille Rose.
