November 3, 1974 – April 21, 2026
Ronkonkoma, New York
Barbara Anne Blake, beloved daughter, devoted sister, cherished aunt, and trailblazing director of photojournalism, passed away on April 21, 2026, at the age of 51. Born on November 3, 1974, in Patchogue, New York, Barbara grew up surrounded by the warmth of family and the boundless curiosity that would come to define her extraordinary life.
Life Rooted in Family
Family was Barbara’s anchor. The cherished daughter of Lloyd and Patricia Blake, she was raised alongside her brother Lloyd and sister Debbie in a household filled with love and laughter. Those bonds only deepened with time. She delighted in her role as aunt to Laddie, Corey, Ryan, Hayley, Melisa, and Timur—pouring into each of them the same enthusiasm and heart she brought to everything she pursued. Her cat, Maddoux, was a steadfast companion who brought her daily joy and comfort.
A Brilliant Career Behind the Lens
Armed with a Bachelor’s Degree and an eye for the decisive moment, Barbara built a remarkable career in visual storytelling. As Senior Director of ESPN Images, she brought artistry and precision to every frame and led her staff to do the same. Her tenure at ESPN was marked by the prestige of multiple Emmy Awards, a testament to her mastery of capturing sports and human emotion in equal measure. Later in her career she moved over to the position of Director of Photo Journalism at Shutterfly in New York City where she continued to devote herself to editing, imaging and marketing. A proud partial owner of the Green Bay Packers, Barbara’s passion for sports was not merely professional—it was personal and deeply felt.
A Spirit That Embraced Every Moment
Barbara lived with infectious enthusiasm. A competitive swimmer during her college years, she never outgrew her love of challenge—snowboarding and skateboarding kept her thrill-seeking spirit alive throughout her adult life. Music fueled her soul, particularly
the raw energy of 90’s Alternative music, and she channeled that passion into her own writing and singing. An avid traveler, Barbara explored the world with an open heart, embracing new cultures and carrying those experiences back to the people she loved. Not too mention her ability to collect sneakers that could only be admired in boxes so that they could always remain clean yet available.
Barbara is survived by her mother, Patricia Blake; her brother, Lloyd Blake, Jr. and his wife Christina; her sister, Debbie Blake; and her beloved nephews and nieces—Laddie, Corey, Ryan, Hayley, Melisa, and Timur. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her generous heart, and the unmistakable way she made everyone around her feel seen and celebrated.
Guests are warmly invited to wear sneakers and bright clothing—
a joyful reflection of the colorful life she lived.
“May she rest peacefully, forever inspiring us to celebrate every moment with zest and color.”
