Barbara Ann Schriefer
July 16, 1938 – March 22, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Schriefer, age 87, on March 22, 2026. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who placed family at the center of her life.
Born in Rosedale, Queens, Barbara was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. She began raising her family in Levittown, New York, and later made her home in Commack. Some of her happiest moments were spent hosting family and friends at her cherished second home in Lake Placid, where she created lasting memories for those she loved.
Barbara was active in her faith and generously gave her time as a volunteer at St. Bernard’s Parish and St. Thomas More Parish. She found joy in cooking, especially preparing favorite family recipes, as well as in gardening, caring for her cats, and spending time at the beach enjoying the warmth of the sun. She loved to travel, particularly when it meant celebrating special moments with family.
During her career in real estate, Barbara contributed to the design and construction of custom homes on Long Island—work that reflected her creativity and attention to detail.
In recent years, while her health limited her mobility, Barbara remained closely connected to her faith and family. She took great joy in frequent FaceTime visits and treasured time spent with loved ones who came to be with her. She took pride in staying engaged in the lives of her extended family.
Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, John; her stepdaughter, Judy Heilbrunn; her parents, John and Kathleen; and her siblings.
She is survived by her children, Peter and Donna Spears; Margaret and Romolo Marcucci; Kerry and Jim Fisher; Jennifer Spears; stepson-in-law Greg Heilbrunn; and stepson John Schriefer. She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Barbara’s presence at family milestones will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will be carried forward and remembered at every future gathering.
