Carl G. Twardy Sr.

Twardy, Carl Gregory of Sayville, NY, passed away peacefully at 9:27 pm on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Long Island Community Hospital.  He was born in Bay Shore, NY on September 11, 1940.  He was the first of three children born of Gregory and Grace (Rigoglioso) Twardy, followed by his sister, Joyce and brother, Paul.  He married in 1959 and started a family in Islip with his wife, Diana.  In 1967, he moved his growing family into a home in Sayville, which he kept until his death.  Carl and Diana raised five children:  Carl, Grace, Glenn, Craig and Gary.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Joyce and his treasured daughter Grace.  His is survived by his brother, Paul and his wife Patti and his sons and their wives – Carl, Glenn and his wife Linda, Craig and his wife, Varinia and Gary and his wife, Rose, as well as his grandchildren – Alyssa, Devin, Benjamin, Bryanna, Shelby, John and Victoria.  Also surviving him are his ex-wife and lifelong friend, Diana and many loving cousins.

Carl’s career spanned several decades in the glass industry.  He ultimately retired from a leading firm in Bay Shore.  He was known by his co-workers and business associates for his work ethic and as a man of integrity and high professional standards.  His family and friend could always count on him for his help and support.  Carl enjoyed spending time with his family and watching NASCAR.  He was an avid car enthusiast.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Moloney’s Bohemia Funeral Home, 1320 Lakeland Ave., Bohemia, NY.  There will be a brief service at the evening viewing.  There will be private burial services to follow.
