Catherine Frances Cummings, 101, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, and friend, passed away on May 22, 2026, in the comfort of her home in Commack, New York, surrounded by loved ones. Born on March 8, 1925, in Manhattan, New York, Catherine dedicated her life to caring for and supporting her family with unwavering love, compassion, and selflessness.

Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Richard F. Cummings, with whom she shared forty-three years of marriage and companionship. She is survived by her six children, Rich (Delia), Bill (Jane), Dennis (Beverly), Jim (Carol), Tricia (Mike), and Mary; her cherished twelve grandchildren, Billy (Nicole), Patrick (Bernadette), Brendan (Lisa), Joseph (Mallory), Dennis Jr. (Danielle), Mary Catherine (Chris), Christopher (Amanda), Matthew (Lynn), Kelly (Rahul), Shannon (Brandon), Rachael (Zach), and Jonathan; and her 13 great-grandchildren, Ellie, Emma, Catherine, Alex, Grace, Aidan, Will, Hope, Faith, Maya, Harry, Priya, and Ben, who affectionately called her “Nana.” Over the span of 12 years, Catherine attended each of her grandchildren’s college graduations, a testament to her deep love for and dedication to her family.

Catherine grew up as an only child in Elmhurst, New York, surrounded by her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, where she and Richard first raised their six children before moving to Commack, New York. Along with her late husband, she shared her love for family and friends by warmly welcoming everyone into her home, making each person feel special, and creating lasting memories through countless gatherings and celebrations. Catherine also shared her love of dogs, birds, and gardening with everyone around her, finding joy in caring for everyone’s animals and appreciating the beauty of flowers and nature.

Catherine’s memory will live on through her family and friends, whose lives were enriched by her enduring love, kindness, and support.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, from 2 pm - 4 pm and from 6 pm to 9 pm at Maloney Funeral Home, Hauppauge, New York. A funeral Mass will follow at St. Thomas More Church, Hauppauge, New York, on Wednesday, May 27, at 9:45 am, with burial immediately following at St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, New York.
