Catherine Mary O'Hare

Catherine Mary O'Hare, born on July 23, 1953, in Long Island City, NY, passed away on September 3, 2026. Known for her kindness and gentle spirit, Catherine dedicated her life to caring for others where she worked as a health aide for individuals with intellectual disabilities for over a decade. Prior to that, she devoted herself to uplifting disadvantaged children, embodying compassion and empathy in all her endeavors with them.

Catherine took great pleasure in traveling, with her trips to Ireland holding a special place in her heart. She cherished her time with family and friends, as well as the companionship of her beloved pets, particularly her most recent cat, who brought her joy and comfort.

Catherine is survived by her three sons, Brian O'Hare and his husband Mark Nakamoto, Shamus O'Hare, and Brendan O'Hare; her brother, Owen Markey, his wife Patricia and their four sons; her sister, Patricia Merrick, and her two sons; her sister, Maureen O'Brien, her husband Thomas and their three sons; and her brother, Sean Markey, his wife Elizabeth and their son and three daughters. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will take place on September 11, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Moloney's Sinnickson's Funeral Home & Cremation Center. A prayer service will follow that evening at 7:00 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church on September 12, 2026, at 9:15 AM. Catherine will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Center Moriches, NY, following the mass at 10:30 AM.

In honor of Catherine's loving spirit and her dedication to helping others, the family encourages all who attend to share their memories and stories, celebrating a life well-lived.
