On Saturday, December 17, 2022, Charles D. Lloyd Jr., beloved husband and father passed away at the age of 64. Known as Chuck by friends and family, he grew up in Selden, NY and graduated from Dowling College in 1984 earning a Degree in Business. He married Kathleen “Katie” Byrne on November 20, 1988. Together they raised their son Charlie, a graduate of Villanova University who is now a Lieutenant in the United States Navy and is married to Erica Darlington.

Chuck lived with his family in Hauppauge, NY since 1999 and was a beloved member of the community known for his generosity, warmth and concern for others. He was involved in many community groups and was elected to the Hauppauge High School Hall of Fame in 2017. Chuck was also part of the founding group that created the Hauppauge Public Library.

After graduating college, Chuck embarked on a highly successful sales career within the Computer Technology field. He held executive positions at Xerox Corporation, Digital Equipment Corporation and Hewlett Packard where he spent over 35 years.

Chuck enjoyed boating, travel and was a published author of numerous books and magazine articles specializing on military aviation subjects. He was an award-winning photographer whose zest for life allowed him to fly in and photograph many aircraft including U.S. Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps fighter jets. He enjoyed watching the New York Jets and Giants every Sunday with his son, and was a lifelong Yankees fan.

Chuck is survived by his father, Charles, mother Ann, wife Katie, son Charlie and his wife Erica, brother Randy, sister Jody and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins.

A mass will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 9:45 AM at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, located at 280 East Main Street in Smithtown, NY 11787. Chuck was always taking care of his Sailor and would want to help others as well. Donations to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society can be sent to https://www.nmcrs.org/locations/entry/mayport. This April, Charlie will be running a Marathon in Chuck’s honor, and will share details at that time.

Finally, Katie and Charlie want to thank all those who have help support us. They feel truly blessed to be surrounded by the most loving family, friends and community. There are no words to sufficiently express our love and gratitude to so many.
