Clarice R. McSorley

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Clarice R. McSorley on October 16, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on September 12, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, Clarice was a longtime resident of Hauppauge, New York.

Clarice lived a life filled with love, faith, and devotion to her family. She shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Brian. Their love story began when they met at a dance at St. John’s University and continued until his passing in 2013.

She was the beloved by her daughters, Janet and Lauren (Jim), and the cherished Grandmama of Gwyneth, Katherine, Gillian, and M.J. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Thomas Ruta, and sister-in-law, Ellen Biancaniello, as well as many nieces, nephews, and godchildren who affectionately knew her as “Auntie Clarice,” especially Glenn (Desiree), Joyce, and Matthew.

In addition to her husband, Brian, Clarice was predeceased by her mother, Angelina, her sister, Kathleen Ruta; her brother Anthony Biancaniello and her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Eileen McNally and William McSorley.

Clarice embraced life’s pleasures, including travel, dining out, jewelry, art museums, and Broadway musicals. She valued education, drew strength from her faith in God, and worked for many years in corporate accounting. A gifted conversationalist, and witty too, she treasured the time she spent talking and laughing with the family and friends who meant the world to her. She also enjoyed shopping for clothes and gifts for her grandchildren as well as many grand nieces and grand nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Reaearch Hospital or a charity of your choice in Clarice’s memory.

Clarice will be remembered with enduring love and gratitude by those who knew her.
