Early Life
Clyde S. Ward was born on March 21, 1956, in Georgetown, Guyana, South America.
He was the fifth child of Oscar William Ward and Mercedes Lewis-Ward, both dearly
loved parents who instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep sense of family.
Clyde grew up in Georgetown, where he attended Charleston High School. Before
moving to the United States, he worked at the Guyana Telecommunications Agency,
laying the foundation for his future career.
Marriage and Family
In 1981, Clyde married Bridget Ann Douglas, a union that brought immense joy and
love into their lives. Together, they shared three beautiful children: his firstborn,
Clyde Shearwin Ward, his beloved daughter, Monique Ward-O'Neil, and his baby boy Phillip
Austin Ward. Over the years, their family grew to include nine grandchildren—
Deanna Ward, Devin Ward, Daniella Ward, David O'Neil, Derek Ward, Drew Ward,
Zahyra Cole, Phillip Austin Ward Jr., and Austin Ward—who cherished Clyde as a
loving grandfather.
Migration and Career
In 1981, Clyde migrated to the United States, settling in Brooklyn, New York. There,
he reunited with his family and began a new chapter of his life. He joined Chase
Manhattan Bank (formerly Chemical Bank), where he served as a senior leader for
over 14 years before retiring. Known for his diligence and hard work, Clyde
dedicated himself to providing for his family, embodying the values of perseverance
and responsibility.
Personality and Legacy
Clyde was beloved by all who knew him. Affectionately called "Wardy," he had a
radiant smile that lit up any room and an infectious energy that made everyone feel
welcome. He was famously known for his killer dance moves, which brought joy to
