Daniel Duane McManus was born on June 14, 1939, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, to John and Kathleen McManus, and was the younger brother of Eileen. He served in the Navy and traveled the world, returning home a mature young man. In 1964, he married the love of his life, Mary Jane Favor, and together they raised five children—Danny, Regina, Lorraine (Rick), Stephen (predeceased), and Kathleen (Keith)—in Holbrook. His nephew Joe (Beth) was like a son to him and he loved him dearly.
Dan took great pride in his career as a plumber. He began in the Local 1 Union, went on to become a foreman and estimator, and ultimately went into business with his best friend, Artie Klock.
To know Dan McManus was to love him. Nothing made him happier than enjoying his backyard with family and friends, sharing a good meal, and making Piña Coladas for everyone. His laughter and smile were infectious and his simple presence comforted and reassured those around him. He was cherished by his grandchildren—Stephanie, Katie(James), Michael (Emily), Brendan (Makayla), Kristen (Michael), Madeline, Erin, Jack, and Kaitlyn—and his great-granddaughter, Niamh. He was adored by the McRory, Caruso and Favor families and so many dear friends throughout his life.
