Darin Pitkanen

Darin Pitkanen, 55, of Smithtown, NY, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026.

Born to his beloved parents, Patricia and Bill Pitkanen, Darin was a man of remarkable strength and resilience. Throughout his life, he faced and overcame many challenges with a quiet determination. He dedicated many years of hard work to his career with the Nassau County Tax Assessor’s office.

Darin possessed a deep, lifelong passion for music. He found great comfort and joy in the melodies and lyrics of his favorite songs, which truly resonated with his spirit and spoke to his journey through life.

He was the cherished twin brother of Donna Jean Pitkanen, the loving brother of Darlene Bass and her husband Ron Bass, and the proud, adoring uncle of Abbey Huscher. His warmth, perseverance, and gentle soul will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
