It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Domenick P. Bastelli, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us on May 8, 2026, in Augusta, Georgia. Born on February 5, 1934, Domenick’s life was a tapestry woven with love, resilience, and an enduring spirit that touched all who knew him.
Domenick was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Anne Bastelli for 51 wonderful years. Losing Anne nearly broke his heart, yet his strength and love for family remained unwavering. A proud Navy veteran, Domenick earned the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Navy Occupation Service Medal (European Clasp) — honors that stand as a testament to his dedication and service to his country.
A skilled printer by trade, Domenick’s talents extended far beyond his career. He had an extraordinary gift with music, playing the accordion, mandolin, organ, and harmonica—all by ear. His love of music was infectious, and as a stereo fanatic, he filled homes and hearts with beautiful sounds. Known for his remarkable ability to fix anything, Domenick was a true craftsman whose hands brought life and order to the everyday.
Family was the cornerstone of Domenick’s existence. He cherished his daughter, Irene and son-in-law, Edward, along with his grandchildren Victoria, “EJ,” and Heather and her husband Mike. His warmth extended to his sister-in-law Lorraine and her son Joseph and his wife Lisa and his son Matthew, niece Nicole and her husband Joseph and their children Joseph and Nicholas. Although he moved to a nursing home toward the end of his life, a first for him, he remained deeply connected to those he loved.
Following his wife’s passing, Domenick found renewed hope and joy when Irene and Edward relocated to Georgia. During their transition, they stayed with Edward’s uncle and aunt, the late Joe and Brenda, whose family welcomed Domenick with open arms. It was here that Domenick forged a close bond with Joe, inspiring him to join the Italian American Club and the Elks Club. This period brought a second chance at happiness when Domenick even found friendship with a wonderful woman. His good-natured spirit, brimming with jokes, laughter, and warmth, lit up every room and lifted the hearts of all around him.
Though Domenick was preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Filomena Bastelli, his brother Joseph, nephew Frankie, and of course his beloved wife Anne, his memory lives on vibrantly in the hearts of his surviving family and numerous friends.
Domenick’s journey was one marked by love, laughter, and an unyielding spirit. He was a man who held his family close, shared stories and jokes with a twinkle in his eye, and whose passion for music and life never faded. Though he has gone from our sight, his legacy of kindness, humor, and devotion will forever resonate with all who were fortunate to know him. Rest in peace, dear Domenick. Your song will continue to play in our hearts.
