Doolam Matbarsingh, 75, of Long Island, New York, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on May 12, 1950, in Trinidad, West Indies, Doolam immigrated to the United States in 1969, shortly after completing his O-levels. Eager to begin building a life of his own, he left before even receiving his exam results. He worked briefly for UPS before starting what would become a 56-year career with Datsun/Nissan, serving at multiple dealerships across Long Island.
Doolam was known for his quiet strength, steadfast work ethic, and deep devotion to his family. He valued relationships, always showing up for others with patience, loyalty, and humility. He loved watching cricket matches, listening to bhajans, tending to his garden, and working on cars—his hands always busy, his heart always full.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roopnaryan Matbarsingh and Sheila Jaikaran Singh; his four brothers, Sharma (Kamla), Kumar (Kamla), Annand (Starry), Prakesh (Seeta); and a beloved nephew (Jaikashan).
He is survived by his wife, Francina; his three daughters, Sunitha, Radhika, Kavitha; two sons-in-law, Veerendra and Francis; five cherished grandchildren, Frankie Jr, Charlee, Payal, Pari and Jaya; one brother, John (Shanni); and two sisters, Maltie (Ashok) and Paro (Tony).
Doolam's life was a testament to quiet perseverance, unwavering love, and the legacy that grows from a life rooted in family. He will be deeply missed.
