Doris Schindlar

Doris Ann Schindlar, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed from this life on September 11, 2026, in Sayville, NY, at the age of 85. Born in Flushing, NY, to her mother, Anna, and father, Stephen Allen Sr., Doris was a pillar of strength, love, and faith throughout her life.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Erich Schindlar, and her son, Michael Schindlar. She is survived by her devoted children, Erich Schindlar Jr. (Michelle), Dennis Schindlar (Katherine), and Annemarie Powers (John); her eight cherished grandchildren and their spouses; her four great-grandchildren, whom she held dear; and her beloved brother, Stephen Allen Jr. (Helen).

Doris was a compassionate mother and caregiver by nature, a role she embodied with grace and selflessness. Her faith formed a fundamental part of who she was and guided her actions throughout her life. Doris was fiercely loving and unwaveringly devoted to her family. She showed up for the people she loved through every milestone, every challenge, and everything in between. She was always there when her family needed her, offering her strength, support, and love without hesitation. She treasured the simple things and the memories they carried, including her collection of bells, each a reminder of her beloved grandmother. Her laughter, which she shared with her whole self (and her shoulders), will be missed as much as her strength and love.

Doris reminded us to keep it simple: "Live life and have fun." Those few words capture so much of who she was-her ability to find joy, to laugh, to love deeply, and to remind those around her not to take life for granted. Those who knew Doris will remember her as a woman who was as strong as she was loving, as dependable as she was devoted, and as committed to her family as she was to her faith. She was the person her family could count on-the one who showed up, stood beside them, and loved them through it all.

Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she left behind, and her love will forever be a guiding light for her family. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
