Dorothy L. Edwards

Dorothy Lamour Edwards, born in Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies, was a professional dressmaker and a devoted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) who served compassionately in a nursing home. She lived a life rich with meaning, purpose, faith, and love. She was the beloved daughter of Lilma and the devoted wife of Oswald R. Edwards.

Dorothy was a deeply beloved, faith-filled mother who lovingly raised eight children: Linda K. Edwards, Katrina Edwards, Shawanna Edwards, Theresa Edwards, Lorraine Edwards, Colin Edwards, and her dearly departed daughters Michelle Edwards and Latrice Edwards.

In addition to her children, Dorothy extended her heart and embraced many others as her own. Her extended daughters include Dr. Jean L. Schlegel and Stacey Campbell. Her extended sons include John Goodger Jr., Richard McCloud, Robert Rodney, and Frederick Williams.

A woman grounded in faith and guided by compassion, Dorothy was caring, loving, strong-minded, outspoken, and wonderfully comical at times. She had a remarkable way of leaving a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Through both her profession and her personal life, she embodied service, sacrifice, and unconditional love.

She is survived by her sisters Lilma Bryan, Lightbourne Daley, and Florence Goodger, and her cherished brother John Goodger Sr. Dorothy was also blessed with a dedicated and loyal caregiver, Lynette Fingal, whose compassion and steadfast presence meant so much to her and the family.

Dorothy Lamour Edwards leaves behind a powerful legacy carried on by a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends. She was deeply loved by family and friends in Florida, New York, Jamaica, and beyond. An icon in her own right, Dorothy Lamour Edwards was a woman of great character-dependable, reliable, faith-filled, and profoundly loved by all who knew her.
