Dorothy "Dotsie" McKenna (McFarlane)

1939 - 2026 (Age 87)

Dorothy "Dotsie" McKenna, 87, passed away peacefully on August 11th 2026, on Long Island, New York. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1939 to Margaret "Greta" and James "Skipper" McFarlane, Dorothy lived a life defined by family, resilience, and an unforgettable spark.

Dorothy was a sharp, funny, and fiercely smart woman who brought joy into every room she entered. She always enjoyed dressing up, looking her absolute best, and socializing with friends and family. A fantastic cook, she took immense pride in keeping a perfect home and loved spending her time sewing, creating beautiful needlepoint pieces, and crafting. Dorothy loved dancing, sharing jokes, watching Jeopardy!, and was a truly great storyteller. She was also a passionate animal lover who found great joy in the companionship of her pets throughout her life. Her kindness, quick wit, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husbands, Donald Daly, Jack Boylan, and Richard McKenna; her beloved children, Nancy Lee and Michael James; and her dear brothers, Archie and Donald McFarlane.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Michael), whom she shared with her first husband, Donald Daly; her daughter-in-law, Yasmin; and her sister, Marian "Mimi" Buckley. She is also survived by her four cherished grandchildren, Amy Margaret (Kevin Owens), Emily Nancy (Michael Squillante), Michael Liam, and Dixie Delilah; and her three precious great-grandchildren, Lucy Daly, Olive Kathleen, and Isla Jane. Aunt Dotsie leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends, each of whom she had a beautiful gift for making feel like they were her absolute favorite.

Dorothy had an enormous love for cats, and supporting animals in need was a cause very close to her heart.
