Elaine Grotto

Elaine of St. James, NY on July 26th in her 75th year passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength. A gentle soul with a heart of gold, Elaine touched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. Elaine was born in Corona, NY. She grew up and also raised her family with her beloved husband in Flushing, NY. She started her career as a secretary in Manhattan and later continued her career in the Nursing Education Department as an Administrative Secretary at Booth Memorial Hospital. The couple enjoyed some of their best times when they moved to Whitestone, NY before making their way out to Suffolk County to be closer to their children.

Elaine was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Joseph Grotto, with whom she shared a deep and enduring love. They took turns caring for one another’s health along their journey together. They led by example as they stood by their vows of, “in sickness and in health.” Their bond was one of true partnership, and it brings comfort to her loved ones to imagine their joyful reunion in heaven.

She was a devoted mother to Karen (Joseph) and Anthony (Maryanne). A cherished grandmother to Nico, Gianna, Anthony, and Kathleen. Elaine found her greatest joy in her family, and her love for them was evident in every kind word, every thoughtful gesture, and every moment she gave of herself so freely. Elaine found joy in being surrounded by many friends, former colleagues, nieces, nephews, and her beloved group of cousins whom she grew up with. Sharing childhood stories and laughs whenever they were together would always bring a smile to her face.

She is predeceased by her dear sister Joanne, with whom she now shares eternal peace.

Elaine will be remembered for her grace, her piano playing, her lasagna, and most of all her quiet strength. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
