Evelyn Angela Hassett

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Evelyn Angela Hassett, who left this world on October 9, 2026. Born in the vibrant borough of Brooklyn, NY, Evelyn led a life filled with love, creativity, and cherished moments. She proudly called Holtsville, NY, her home for many years after moving to Long Island in 1969.

 Evelyn was a dedicated homemaker, married to her beloved husband, James "Jimmy" Hassett, for an incredible 44 years. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home where countless memories were made and shared. Her talents for crocheting, sewing, and crafting filled her home with handmade treasures, and her love for gardening beautified her surroundings. A fiercely organized individual, she found joy in every detail of her life, whether it was planning the perfect family gathering or indulging in her favorite white Zinfandel while savoring a piece of Hershey's chocolate. Ever the connoisseur, she delighted in her frequent visits to Starbucks, where she enjoyed her beloved beverages.

 Evelyn, affectionally known as “Mamar”, is survived by her devoted daughters, Teresa Leonard and Linda McNaughton (Michael), as well as her cherished granddaughter, Alicia Klobus (Joseph). Each of them carries a piece of her spirit and warmth in their hearts. Evelyn is predeceased by her husband “Jimmy”, her parents: Catherine and John Fasano and her brother John “Sonny” Fasano. 

As we gather to honor her life, let us remember the laughter, warmth, and love that Evelyn brought to all who knew her. May her memory be a blessing and an inspiration to us all.
