Helen Barbara Kaastra

Helen Barbara Kaastra, born on July 23, 1937, in New York, NY, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, in Stony Brook, NY. She was a devoted homemaker and a loving mother to her children: Bonnie-Jo Kaastra and Barbara Lynn Kaastra. She was preceded in death by her beloved sons, John Kaastra and Thomas Kaastra and her husband, John Julius Kaastra. 

Helen was a woman of generous spirit and warmth. She may not have had much in material possessions, but she was always the first to lend a helping hand or share what little she had with those in need. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will cherish the memories they created with her. 

Helen held a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Rosie, as well as her love for roses and house plants, reflecting her nurturing nature. For over thirty years, she celebrated her birthday at Disney World, a testament to her vibrant spirit and her love for the magic it represented. 

She will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
