Henry August Lewandowski

d. Oct 21, 2026

Holbrook

On October 21, 2026, Henry Lewandowski Sr. was called home by his Father in Heaven. The dedicated family man passed peacefully at home following an arduous battle with cancer.

Henry was born August 1, 1943, to Olga and John Lewandowski in Staten Island, New York, where he lived most of his young life with his three siblings, Robert, John, and Joy. With his ambition, sharp intellect, and amazing work ethic, he built a remarkable life for himself and his family.

He married his “Beautiful Sicilian” wife, Vivian Marano, in 1981 in Rockville Centre, New York, where they raised their family together in a community they loved. Henry worked in the financial markets for an impressive career that spanned more than 40 years and built thousands of connections worldwide. He will be fondly remembered by his customers, partners, and colleagues-many of whom he kept in touch with throughout the years.

He is survived by his cherished daughters, Kelly Batson and Kristen Lewandowski, and his beloved sons, Henry Lewandowski Jr. and his wife Angela; Scott Lewandowski and his partner Jasmin; and his youngest son, Stephen Lewandowski. His children always felt his affection and care throughout their young and adult lives. He was a dedicated soccer coach who cheered them on, carted them to games, and fostered their love of sport. He took so much pride in seeing them each succeed in soccer and in life.

He was a loving grandfather to Jack Batson, Henry Lewandowski III, Emma Lewandowski, Matthew Lewandowski, and Roman Aydagul. His grandfather’s hat brought him great love and joy, and he made sure his grandkids felt that same warmth from him. His presence in their lives will be dearly missed.

Henry was a bigger-than-life personality who made everyone laugh, dance, and feel truly supported. Affectionately known as Henj/Butch/Big/Hank, he generously shared his time and love as a brother-in-law, son-in-law, cousin, Godfather, colleague, and friend. He was a cherished uncle to dozens who looked forward to his big bear hugs—he never missed a family event or celebration and brought the party wherever he went.

He was a faithful Catholic, firm in his belief and thoughtful with his prayers. He was especially good at remembering those who have gone before us, and helped keep the memories of his loved ones close.

Henry battled cancer for more than four years, bravely enduring a series of treatments and hospitalizations, supported by his loving wife, family, and the generosity of the Stev’s Wish Foundation, who provided compassionate support throughout this difficult journey.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to pay this generosity forward and ask that donations in Henry’s name be made to the Stev’s Wish Foundation, so others may benefit from the same healing help Henry received, and continue to honor the life and legacy of his nephew, Stephen Marano Jr.  Stev's Wish

The family is planning a memorial service in the upcoming weeks. Information will be posted when available.
