Inge Johanna Schattner, age 94, of Copiague passed away on February 13, 2026. She was born on a small island in the North Sea of Germany called Fohr on March 11, 1931. She came to the United States in her early 20's alone to live with family and became a deli worker. She taught herself to speak English by reading books. She later met her husband Gerd and started there lives together in the Bronx before they moved to Bellerose. She loved to cook, sew, crochet and garden. She became a mother to her only son, Thomas. Inge was a deli worker and cook and also owned a Deli with Gerd until she retired. Later, her greatest title was being "Oma" to her twin granddaughters Melissa and Ashley as well as her bonus grandsons Justin, Bryan and Joshua.


Inge was preceded in death by her husband Gerd, her mother and father John and Inna Godbersen, her brothers Christfried and Johnny Godbersen.


She is survived by her Son Thomas and daughter in law Marcy, her granddaughters Melissa and Ashley, her niece Sabine, and nephew Kay of Germany.
