It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Peter Burns Jr., aged 84, on April 7, 2026, from Miller Place, New York. Born on March 10, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, Jim led a life filled with love, family, and professional achievement.
Jim was a devoted father to his three sons, Kevin Burns (Audra), James Burns (Jennifer), and Brian Burns (Amy).
He cherished his role as a grandfather, and his grandchildren, Rileigh, Shaye, Samantha, Jessica, Tyler, and Kori, brought him immense joy. He was also the loving husband to his late wife, Corinne, whose memory he held dear throughout the remainder of his life.
Jim enjoyed spending his time at the beach, boating, and tinkering in his garage. He was long standing active member of the Mt. Sinai Yacht Club and found solace on the walking trails in and around Mt. Sinai Harbor, where he embraced the tranquility of the great outdoors.
Jim will be remembered for his kindness, quick wit, dedication to family, and love for nature. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and strength that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held as follows: A Memorial Service is scheduled for April 16, 2026, at 4:00 PM with visitation between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM at Moloney's Port Jefferson Station Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will take place at Infant Jesus Roman Catholic Church on April 17, 2026, at 10:30 am.
