Jan J. S. Van Heyst

Jan J.S. van Heyst, 78, of Center Moriches, New York, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on February 28, 2020. Jan was born on April 26, 1941 in the Netherlands to Dirk and Alida van Heyst. Jan enjoyed working on the Dutch crossword puzzle each morning over a cup of coffee with his wife. He also enjoyed reading, photography and spending time with his family and friends and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

Jan is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gerda van Heyst; his son and daughter-in-law Dirk and Amanda van Heyst, his daughter Lonneke van Heyst; his grandchildren Ryan, Ally and Emma van Heyst; his sister Rik (Rein) Willems, his brother Berend (Marja) van Heijst, his sister Dieuwke (Karel) Kuyvenhoven, his sister Hermine (Edwin) Zandbergen, his brother Dirk (Machteld) van Heijst and brother Robert van Heijst.

A church service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of the Moriches located at 263 Main Street, Center Moriches, New York 11934 immediately followed by a lunch reception for family and friends at church.
