Jeffrey Sperber, age 72, passed away on September 25, 2024, leaving behind a world that is now significantly less grammatically correct. Born on August 13, 1952, Jeff had a passion for the life he lived. He was an avid reader, music lover and enjoyed skiing in the winter and boating in the summer. He had a deep passion for sports, which he shared with his daughters, along with the talent for effortlessly chatting with anyone they met. Dogs and plants seemed to thrive under his watchful eye—his beloved dog, Jasmine, can confirm. He proudly served his community for 32 years with the Suffolk County Police Department; a career he took seriously and loved.
Survived by his loving wife Suzanne, daughters Jennifer and Adrienne, and step-daughters Tara, Megan, and Jessica, Jeff’s family will miss his stubborn charm and his ability to win every argument (or at least refuse to admit he was wrong). His grandchildren—Olivia, Nathan, Samuel, and Addison–will fondly remember his knack for giving the best gifts, telling funny (and sometimes super inappropriate) jokes, and spending time playing together for hours. Known as Jeff, Dad, Uncle Jeff, Grandpa and Boppy, he was the master of the dad joke and the art of subtle sarcasm.
In addition to his wife, children and grands, Jeff is also survived by his caring sister, Gail, brother-in laws, son-in laws, nieces and nephews and a plethora of friends, neighbors and co-workers.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Jeff’s life and humor. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to The American Diabetes Foundation or your local animal shelter. Rest easy, Jeff, knowing that your legacy of perfectly structured sentences and well-loved dogs will live on.
