Joan Catherine Walsh

Joan Catherine Walsh passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024 at the age of 93.  Her legacy includes her commitment to her family and friends, her strong Catholic faith, her enduring optimism, fun loving spirit and interest in other people.  Born in Ridgewood, Queens on December 2, 1930, she married Richard (Richie) Walsh in 1950, beginning a 50 year marriage that ended with Richie’s death in 2001.  She and Richie moved to Deer Park, where they raised their sons Thomas, Richard (wife Barbara), and Michael (wife Gabriella) and their daughter Donna (husband Thomas Maloney).  She and Richie lived in Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii from 1986 to 2002.  Joan returned to New York after Richie's passing and lived at Bishop McGann Village in Central Islip until her passing.  She is survived by her grandchildren Amanda, Kevin, Sean, Ryan, Matthew, Emma, Teddy and Christian and her great grandson, Hudson.  She was predeceased by her sons, Kenneth and John, and her daughter, Agnes.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, https://t2t.org/, would be appreciated.
