John Michael Levandi, 96 and 174 days, of Hauppauge, New York, passed away peacefully and comfortably at Good Shepherd Hospice on January 25, 2026. A devoted husband to the love of his life Grace, devoted father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, John will forever be remembered for his radiant smile, quick wit, and the boundless kindness he shared with everyone who crossed his path.

Born on August 4, 1929, in East Elmhurst, John was the beloved son of Francesco “Frank” Levandi and Calogera “Katy” Torcivia. He grew up in a close-knit family with his many brothers and sisters, who remained an important part of his life and values throughout the years.

A proud veteran, John honorably served his country in the Army before returning home to build a life rooted in love, generosity, kindness and his faith and trust in his LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. He married the love of his life, Grace, and together they shared 47 years of deep companionship, laughter, and devotion.

John had an undeniable zest for life, a disciplined prayer warrior whose faith guided him. His humor lifted those around him, and his singing voice filled the hearts of many. He loved to sing all genres of music, bringing joy to family gatherings and community events alike. A lifelong Yankees fan, he rarely missed a game and if they won, he would watch a replay of the game. He also enjoyed playing tennis and golf.

He was an active member of the Smithtown and Indian Head Senior Centers, where he made lasting friendships, and a dedicated volunteer and parishioner who faithfully served for 56 years at St. Patrick’s Church. He was always willing to lend a hand or assist those in need.

John is survived by his cherished daughter Rose Forte, son-in-law Bill Forte, cherished daughter Claudia DeFilippis, and his beloved son John Micheal Levandi jr. along with his many grandchildren, Valerie Rose and Brian Laverty, Billy John Enrico and Lauren Forte, Claudia Grace DeFilippis, Gianna Rose DeFilippis great-grandchildren Mila Lucia Forte and William Gianni Forte who continue his legacy of love.

Pallbearers will include his son John Micheal Levandi Jr. and grandson Billy Forte.

“This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
