In Loving Memory of Jose Alves Martins

His life was marked by courage, love, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jose Alves Martins, who passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 82.

Jose was born on January 31, 1944, in Caracas, Venezuela. His life was marked by courage, love, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

One of the greatest blessings of his life began when he met the love of his life, Rosa Martins, on a cruise from New York to Portugal. Their chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong romance. Together, they started their family in Portugal before immigrating to the United States, where they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Jose was a devoted husband to Rosa and a loving father to his two children, Jose (Judy) Martins and Paulo Sergio Martins. He was an incredibly proud grandfather to Joseph, Kaitlin, Brianna, and Amanda, and he treasured his role as great-grandfather to his beloved great-granddaughter, Charlotte.

Their chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong romance.

Family was the center of Jose's world. He found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones and took pride in providing for and caring for his family throughout his life. His passions for baking and fishing brought him great happiness. Whether he was preparing delicious treats to share with family and friends or enjoying a peaceful day by the water, Jose embraced life's simple pleasures with gratitude and enthusiasm.

Those who knew Jose will forever remember his infectious smile. It could light up a room, put others at ease, and make everyone feel welcome. His warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit touched countless lives and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Jose leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and generosity that will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched. Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, we find comfort in the memories he created and in the enduring example of a life beautifully lived.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rosa Martins; his sons, Jose A. Martins and Paulo Sergio Martins; his grandchildren, Joseph, Kaitlin, Brianna, and Amanda; his great-granddaughter, Charlotte; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him dearly.

He found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones and took pride in providing for and caring for his family throughout his life.

Though he is no longer with us, his smile, his love, and the story he and Rosa began so many years ago will continue to inspire all who knew him.

May he rest in eternal peace, forever remembered and forever loved.
