Joseph N. Gancio, a beloved husband, father, brother and master barber, passed away on December 3, 2025, in Stony Brook, New York, at the age of 45. Born on April 11, 1980, in Patchogue, New York, Joe was known for his vibrant spirit, passion for life, and an undeniable talent for his craft as a master barber.
Joe was the proud owner of Joe's Classic Cuts barber shops in South Carolina, where he made lasting connections with his customers and community. He was not only a master of his trade but also a cool guy-a cherished friend and uncle who brightened the lives of those around him. His larger-than-life personality, demonstrated by his unique ability to turn any moment into a celebration, will be deeply missed.
Joe had a deep love for the beach. Whether he was walking along the shore with Chelsea searching for sand dollars or watching the sunrise, he was most fulfilled when he was there with Chelsea and Chloe. His unwavering love for Chelsea was evident to all, and he was profoundly proud to be a father, cherishing the blessing of raising Chloe together with Chelsea, a baby they had prayed for so often.
Joe had a great love for cars, particularly his beloved '65 El Camino. He was known to set up a cozy spot in the back of his El Camino to watch TV while reveling in his passion for vehicles. Beyond the dashboard, Joe found joy in basketball, often enjoying spirited games with his brothers.
An avid horse racing enthusiast, Joe frequently visited the track, where he shared laughter and stories with jockeys and provided loving care to retired racehorses. He had a heart of gold, which shone brightly when he offered free haircuts to veterans and underprivileged children, always eager to give back to those in need.
Joe's love for music was evident, with a special fondness for Country and Christmas tunes, which echoed the warmth and joy he brought into the lives of family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Chelsea, and their beloved daughter, Chloe & his mother Patricia. Joe's legacy will live on through his family: his brothers Anthony (Carol Lynn), Matthew (Shannon), and sister Lauren (Anthony), along with his cherished nieces and nephews-Anthony, Valentina, Rocco, Nicolina, Abby, and Capri. He also leaves behind his dear Aunt Jo (Tom). Joe is the proud Dog Dad to Paulie, Penny, Patty, and Big Brown.
Family and friend are welcome to celebrate Joe's life during visiting on December 7, 2025, at Moloney's Hauppauge Funeral Home from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, December 8, at 10 AM at St. Patrick's RC Church in Smithtown. Entombment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
In celebrating Joe's life, we honor his spirited personality, his generous heart, and his unwavering love for family and friends. Joe will forever remain in our hearts as we gather to share our cherished memories of a truly remarkable man.
