Obituary for Josephine Diane Arroyo-Rivera August 12, 1949 – April 16, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Josephine Diane Arroyo-Rivera, age 76, who peacefully left this world on April 16, 2026, after a brief and unexpected battle with liver cancer. Josephine was a radiant soul whose warmth, humor, and compassion touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Known for her kindness and nurturing spirit, Josephine lived her life with fierce love and unwavering devotion to her family. Her laughter, quick wit, and beautiful voice—often heard singing the Motown classics she adored—were the soundtrack of her life. A natural nurturer, Josephine mothered not only her children but all those who crossed her path, offering a safe space for love, comfort, and understanding. Her embrace was a haven, her words a balm for many.
Josephine’s heart was as vast as her love for life. She had an unshakable bond with her family and found great joy in the simple pleasures: family gatherings, cooking meals for those she loved, and sharing her love for music. Her ability to make everyone feel seen and valued was a gift she shared with all, and she will be remembered for her generosity, sensitivity, and immense heart.
Josephine was the embodiment of strength and grace, often described as a “mama bear” for her fierce protection and love for her family. Despite her tender nature, she was brave and resolute, always facing life’s challenges head-on with dignity and poise. Her love for animals, spirituality, and deep care for others were central to the life she lived, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Louis Rivera; her cherished daughters, Paula Ladd (married to Adam Ladd), Danielle Rivera Demmers (married to Jeremy Demmers), and step-daughter Kerri Feleppa (married to Brian Feleppa). Josephine was a proud and devoted grandmother to Connor Ladd, Aiden Ladd, and Natalie Demmers. She is also survived by her brother, Angel Secada, and her god-daughter, Maria Gomez, both of whom were deeply loved by her.
Josephine’s life was a testament to the power of love and compassion, and as she passed, she did so on her own terms, surrounded by the family that adored her. Her legacy of kindness, laughter, and fierce love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed, her memory cherished forever—her smile, her voice, her laughter, and the warmth of her embrace. May she rest in peace, knowing she was loved beyond measure and will be remembered always.
Mom loved flowers almost as much as she loved animals. If you wish to send a gift, flowers are appreciated, or donations may be made in Josephine's memory to Paws Unite People, a local animal rescue organization, as she was a lifelong advocate for the welfare of animals.
