Judith Woehler

Judith J. Woehler, affectionately known as Judy, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at the age of 85. She had been a resident of Luxor Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Sayville, NY, for the last five years.

Born in the Bronx, NY, on April 15, 1940, Judy was the beloved daughter of Thomas and Hannah Maher. She grew up in New York City and married James Edward Dunphy in 1959. Their family journey took them from Wilmington, DE, to Bridgeport, CT, where they welcomed their son, James, and daughter, Joan. After a brief period in Oklahoma City, Judy returned to Bellmore, NY, in 1966, and began a fulfilling career as a dental assistant.

In 1969, Judy married Charles “Chuck” Woehler. They settled in Massapequa and later Amityville, NY, where they operated an antique business. Following Chuck’s passing in 1986, Judy continued to run the business with her characteristic strength and independence.

Judy’s passions included her keen sense of style and her love for tackling home projects. She had a lifelong affection for cats and a deep appreciation for the holiday season, especially Christmas, which she joyfully decorated her home with hundreds of festive ornaments each year.

She is survived by her son, James Dunphy of Ronkonkoma, NY, and his wife, Karen, along with their two children, Ryan (and his wife, Amanda) and Erin. She is also survived by her daughter, Joan Dolce of Calabash, NC (Tom Dolce, deceased).

Judy will be remembered for her strength, wit, independence, and love for her family. Her spirit will be dearly missed.
