June Elizabeth Scimonelli, 82, passed away peacefully on November 30th. Ever present was her daughter Tracey, who cared for her every day in her later years, as well as Dorothy, a cherished and loved member of the family. In her final days, she was surrounded by loved ones—her daughters Tracey and Suzanne, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
June was born on July 10, 1943, to Edith and Joseph Sparacin. Though an only child by birth, her family later welcomed a foster child, Judy, who became a cherished sister and lifelong best friend.
In 1963, June married Anthony Scimonelli, the brother of her childhood friend Vita. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three daughters: Suzanne, Tamara, and Tracey. June and Anthony shared 57 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2021. She was also predeceased by her beloved daughter Tamara in 2023.
June and Anthony were proud grandparents to:
— Christine, Robert III, and Victoria (children of Suzanne & Bob)
— Samantha and Travis (children of Tamara & John)
— Philip, Anthony, Christopher, and Joseph (children of Tracey & Phil)
They were further blessed with nine great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to June’s life.
In her early years, June modeled wedding dresses and fashion hats. She later spent many fulfilling years working as an attendance officer in the Sachem School District, where she was proud to run the Latchkey Program, providing care and support to countless children and families.
After retiring, June and Anthony enjoyed traveling and dividing their time between the Poconos and The Villages, Florida, where they made many lasting friendships and celebrated countless family milestones.
June had a passion for painting and pottery, but her faith was always at the center of her life. Hope Lutheran Church played a significant role during her years in The Villages, and Pastor John LeCain continued to visit her at home when she was no longer able to attend services.
June will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her, but we take comfort in knowing she is reunited in eternity with her beloved husband, Anthony, and her daughter, Tamara.
