Karen Virginia Leitch

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Virginia Leitch, 81, of Medford, NY, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026. The youngest daughter of Anna and Frank Leitch; brother, Frank Leitch Jr.; sister to Sheila Sheffield; survived by her sister, Eileen Hassel-Maynard, and her husband, Richard Maynard, of Babylon, NY. Karen was an Aunt to: Laura Bustamante, Brian and Dyanna Sheffield, James and Suzanne Hassel, Craig Hassel, Kevin and Janet Leitch, and Nancy Hassel. Along with many great-nieces and nephews. 

Throughout her life, Karen was known for her warm smile, laughter, creative spirit, and generous heart. She loved knitting and crocheting, creating countless handmade gifts for family and friends. 

A very active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY, where she volunteered her time in the thrift store, and bookstore. Karen was also a part of WELCA helping knit blankets for disaster victims and dementia patients, baby blankets, and was also a member of the church choir. During her career as a school bus driver, she happily decorated her bus for every holiday season to make the children smile. 

Her laughter was contagious, and she had a remarkable way of making everyone around her smile. She will be greatly missed.
