Kathleen was born and raised in the Melrose neighborhood in the Bronx, New York City to Catherine and Thomas Torpey. She was one of seven siblings; Peggy Ryan, Joan McKeon, Mary Nicoletti, Thomas Torpey, Jack Torpey, and Jimmy Torpey.

Mom had a strong work ethic. In the early 1960's she was the only mother/housewife on our block that went to work. She was a social worker for thirty five years.

Kathleen is survived by her 3 daughters, 7 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren
