Kathleen E. Pesce

d. November 23, 2024

PESCE, Kathleen Elizabeth “Kathy” (Remy), born on August 25, 1940 (age 84) passed away on November 23, 2024. Kathy was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She married her beloved husband, the late Carlo Joseph Pesce on July 27, 1963, and they moved to Lake Ronkonkoma in 1965. Kathy was a dedicated and beloved wife and mother, and devout Catholic. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she regularly attended mass until she moved from her and Carlo’s Ronkonkoma house to Gurwin Assisted Living in 2020. She was a loyal employee of the Internal Revenue Service until her retirement. Kathy loved the beach and swimming. She found opportunities to swim year-round by joining the local YMCA and purchasing memberships at local hotels. Kathy also loved bowling and was part of a bowling league for many years. She enjoyed being with friends and loved meeting for dinner, a movie or even making a trip to New York City for the theater. She was an avid reader of fiction and spent many hours at the library each week picking new books to read. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed both cooking and eating Irish food. She and Carlo had a tradition of enjoying St. Patrick’s Day dinner at Billy’s for more than fifteen years. Kathy also embraced Carlo’s proud Italian heritage and loved to cook for their large extended family. She was known for her mouth-watering meatballs that were a staple in the Pesce house. Yet she never came to enjoy her family’s long-honored Italian tradition of having seafood on Christmas Eve because she never liked any seafood. Instead, she preferred hamburgers and chicken parmesan --- and loved anything sweet!

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Valentine Remy and Margaret Remy (Rowley). She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Carlo and her son Christopher. She is survived by two sons Carl and his wife Melissa; Michael and his wife Sheila; her nine grandchildren: Carl’s children Lauren, Emily and Sophia; Christopher’s children Michael and his wife Jessica, Nicholas, and Aidan; and Michael’s children Ashley, Michael, and Jenna; and her first great-grandchild Remi Pesce. She is also survived by her loving sister Rita Toole; her sister-in-law Mary Timson (Pesce); and her brother-in-law Paul Pesce and his wife Anna; and many loving nieces and nephews who cared for Kathy very deeply.
