Keith R. Fechter

Keith Richard Fechter, 77, of Center Moriches, New York, peacefully passed away at home on 13October 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Keith was born in Port Jefferson on June 17th, 1946, to William and Doris Fechter, the oldest of four brothers: William, Kevin, and Timothy. He graduated from Center Moriches High School, class of ’64, and attended Suffolk Community College and Hofstra University.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents William and Doris, and brother Kevin. He is survived by Fran, his wife of 33 years, daughter Jacquie, son Rich (Melissa), grandson RJ, and five children from a previous marriage: Kristopher (Peggy), Kira (Kevin), Kelly (Carole), Kolleen (Ralston), Kerin (Greg) and 13 grandchildren: Connor, Maddie, Alyssa, Liam, Dayna, Kayla, Joely, Peyton, Kiara, Anden, Patrick, Siena and Joshua. He was a loyal employee of Biodex Medical Systems Inc. in the International Shipping division, retiring in 2017 after 43 years, just shy of his 72nd birthday.

He married the love of his life, Fran Jaro Malloy on December 2nd 1989. He and Fran parented many beloved guinea pigs. He will always be remembered sitting on the couch with “the babies” asleep on his chest. He most appreciated spending time and engaging with family, swimming and bicycling. Keith was a history buff, especially American history, and traveled to and toured significant historical sites. He and Fran were genuine devoteés of country music and enjoyed many concerts together. He also loved the theater and they attended many on and off Broadway productions together.

Keith will live on in the hearts of the family he so dearly loved. The family is committed to making their lives a memorial to a very special husband, father and grandfather.
