Laura Ann Scattareggia, 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on the morning of December 30th. Born to Hannah and Joe Scattareggia, in Brooklyn, New York. She was a force of nature and had boundless energy for life. Laura’s greatest joy in life was her family and most especially her son Jake. Her focus in life was being Jake’s mom. Her passion for adventure took Laura and Jake on many adventures including snowboarding, surfing and traveling. She also loved her career as an English teacher. Laura managed to pursue higher education, earning a bachelor’s degree from Dowling college and a master’s degree from Stony Brook in education administration. She loved teaching and was a creative and beloved educator. Laura was also an artist. She enjoyed painting beautiful vibrant coastal scenes. Laura loved her family and friends. She maintained friendship throughout her years at Connetquot high school, college and her lifelong home, Ronkonkoma. Laura was preceded in death by father, Joseph. Laura’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by her son Jake., her mother Hannah, brother and sister-in-law Joe and Debbie, sister and brother-In-law Lynn and John, niece Lauren and nephews Kyle, Tim, Joseph and Andrew, as well as many other extended family members and friends.
