Letesia “Tuffy” Miller, age 76 of Central Islip, NY, passed away on Monday January 20, 2020. She was born in Rio Claro, Trinidad on June 29, 1943. Letesia Agnes Forde was born to Lionel Thomas Forde and Pamphelia Figaro on June 29, 1943 in Rio Claro, Trinidad.
Letesia was a Registered Nurse for NY State for 30 years. After retiring, she felt she had more to give, and returned to work as a per Diem nurse for UCP (United Cerebral Palsy Institute). Her fellow nurses say she served faithfully, tending her patients with sincere care.
Despite her hectic schedule, Letesia was always there for her friends and family. She was known to her son Les’ friends as the community mom, as she was known to take care of them all, from after school Whopper runs to a place to stay when needed. She was nicknamed Tuffy because what she lacked in height she more than made up for in strength, will, and determination. She handled all challenges that life through her way.
“Tuffy” Loved to cook. Made the best bread on the planet! Made the best of everything and all who tried would agree, but she was far too humble to accept the praise she so richly deserved. She also loved being outside in her yard (or Lester’s) planting, chopping, weeding, and tending her flowers.
Letesia was predeceased by her loving husband, Leon Miller, in 1991. She is survived by her sons, Lester (Michelle) and Laughton (Paula) Miller, Adrian (Crystal) Franklin, and Clark (Syreeta) Birkett; as well as her sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, other family members and her friends.
Letesia was a faithful servant of the Lord, and a friend to all.
