It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lloyd L. Boykin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed peacefully on November 29, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on August 6, 1936, in Columbia, South Carolina, Lloyd lived a life full of love, commitment, and cherished memories. He came from a loving family, growing up with his siblings: Josephine Worthy, Robert Jackson, Randy Brooks, Ted Brooks, David Brooks, and Evelyn Ruffin. Lloyd dedicated over 60 years to his beloved wife, Gertrude Boykin, a partnership that began when they met while he was stationed in Germany serving in the U.S. Army from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1969. Together, they forged a life rich with joy and love. Lloyd’s dedication to his family was evident in his enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures, including fishing, poker, and his passion for Cadillacs. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; his son, Markus Boykin (Katherine); his daughter, Samorra Lucas (John); and his cherished grandchildren: Rebecca, Priscilla, Isabelle, Jade, and Amber.
He was predeceased by his son, James, and his daughter, Darlene.
