Luis A. Montanez, 61, of Brentwood, New York, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 6, 2025. He was born in Bay Shore, New York, and was a lifelong resident of Brentwood.

Luis was a dedicated and hardworking man who remained employed with Nassau Candy in Hicksville, New York. He was also a proud Veteran of the United States Army. In his younger years, Luis was an active member of his community and volunteered as a coach with the Brentwood Youth Association (BYA).

Luis had a unique way of showing love through humor, and being “roasted” by him was a sign you mattered deeply to him. Some knew him as Coach, others as a father figure or a loyal friend. Of all the roles he held in life, the ones he cherished most were being a father, grandfather, husband, and son. Like many of us, he was not perfect, but he loved fiercely and lived authentically, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Luis enjoyed fishing, sports, and spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. He was a practicing Catholic and a man of faith. He was loved and respected by many.

He is survived by his wife, Babett Montanez; his children, Naomi Montanez and Luis Montanez Jr.; his grandchildren, Elijah, Aaliyana, and Luis; his siblings, Ana Crespo, Elizabeth Rodriguez, and Luis R. Montanez Jr.; and his mother, Juanita Del Valle.

Luis will be truly missed and forever remembered.
