Margaret "Peggy" Alegre

Margaret "Peggy" Alegre was 81 years young, born the day after Christmas. She married the love of her life, Edmund "Joe" Alegre, in 1966. They shared 49 wonderful years of marriage before Joe passed away in 2015.

Peggy was a devoted and loving mother to her five daughters: Kathleen, Elizabeth, Frances, Bernadette, and Victoria. She also cherished her four sons-in-law: Alan, James, Ray, and Ed. She was a proud grandmother to Brittany, Hayley, Tyler, Raymond, and Helena, who brought her endless joy.

Raised in the Catholic faith, Peggy held her beliefs close to her heart throughout her life. She believed in angels and lived her life with kindness, compassion, and generosity. She had a gift for making friends wherever she went, and her home was always open to anyone in need of a warm meal, a cup of coffee, or simply a friendly conversation.

Family and friends were the center of Peggy's life. She loved spending time with those she cared about, enjoying dinners at restaurants, shopping trips, Broadway performances, and shows at the Gateway. She also had a special love for ice cream, which always brought a smile to her face.

Peggy was deeply committed to serving others and generously volunteered her time at the Maryhaven Food Pantry, where she made a meaningful difference in the lives of many.

Peggy will be remembered for her loving heart, unwavering faith, generous spirit, and the warmth she shared with everyone she met. Her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
