It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Margaret Teresa Sexton. While we will miss her dearly every day, our faith gives us peace in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved James and other loved ones who have gone before her, resting peacefully in heaven.
Margaret Cosgrove was born on February 3, 1939, in Queens, New York, to Martin Cosgrove and Margaret Cooney, both Irish immigrants. She passed away on June 18, 2026, at the age of 87.
Margaret grew up in the Bronx, New York, where she met her husband, James Sexton. They were married on November 9, 1963, and built a loving home together in Holbrook, New York, where they raised their five children.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Margaret dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. She cared deeply for her family, and she took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Margaret worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home as a nursing assistant and later as a housekeeper. Throughout her life, she exemplified service, compassion, and generosity, touching countless lives with her caring spirit. She was respected and loved by all who knew her.
She enjoyed family gatherings, spending time with friends, reading, and participating in her church parish. Margaret was also a proud member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, unwavering faith, wisdom, and boundless love.
Margaret is survived by her five children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Sexton.
Margaret will be laid to rest beside James at Calverton National Cemetery on June 23, a date made especially meaningful as it would have been James's birthday.
Though she is no longer with us, Margaret's love, guidance, and legacy will remain forever in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
