Maria Nocera, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on January 24, 1940, in the town of Baia E Latina, Provincia Caserta, Italy, Maria was the cherished daughter of Francesco Friello and Angelina Comparone. She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms. Maria's journey through life was marked by her deep love for family and her unwavering dedication as a homemaker. Her life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the warmth that she extended to all who knew her. On June 23, 1960, Maria married the love of her life, Michelangelo Nocera, with whom she shared a remarkable 66 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of family. As a devoted mother, Maria was blessed with three sons, Vito (Maria), Francesco (Yeritza), and Antonio (Sabina). Her love and nurturing spirit extended to her seven grandchildren—Melissa, Angela, Sophia, Isabella, Michelangelo, Gabriel, and Peter—who were the light of her life. Maria's legacy continues through her three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Aria, and Eliana, who will carry forward her spirit and love. A proud member of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Brooklyn, NY, Maria's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as making pizza, jarring tomato sauce, and tending to her garden. Her culinary talents were unmatched, and her specialty dishes—stuffed pizza, lasagna, and meatballs—were the heart of many cherished family gatherings, especially during Sunday dinners and holidays. Maria's kitchen was a haven where love was the main ingredient, and her warmth and generosity knew no bounds. Maria faced the challenges of Alzheimer's with grace and strength, surrounded by the love of her family. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her and in the countless memories she created with her loved ones. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, who's staff provided love and support in her final days.https://www.catholichealthli.org/good-shepherd-hospice/ways-give Maria Nocera's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and family.
